Wendy's Second Home

As it is my second home I can say I love Cape Town, the people, the land, boogie boarding in the sea and the wonderful warm welcome of my aikido friends and the students in their dojo’s.

The aikido community reminds me of how we used to be in Northern California in the ’80’s - we would all visit each others dojos and train together and then go our and eat and have drinks and chat about aikido and life. In the 10 years I have been coming here the community has grown and new dojo’s have been birthed yet they remain close and support each other. It is a pleasure to be part of such a fun, diverse and caring community.

I also have to say how nice it is that they are familiar with my aikido view - they seem to enjoy practicing being light, open and part of a bigger flow. Each time I return to their dojo’s I can teach what I am exploring and it has become quite natural for all of us.

Cape Town Aikido has their classes in a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu dojo and the sign on the wall is their motto.

FYI - It is late autumn here and the temperature is lovely and cool and they have a shower in the dojo, which is more than I can say for Tam :-) - everyone takes short rinse off showers after class.
